A 42-year-old woman has been charged with murder following a young girl's death at Raigmore hospital in Inverness, the Crown Office has said.
Rachael Cowley, from Shenval, Glenurquhart, was also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
She made no plea or declaration. She was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.
Ms Cowley appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.
