Eleven teenage boys from Kent have been questioned by French police in connection with an incident on a cross-channel ferry.
A group of French girls on the ferry had accused the boys of sexually harassing them before departure.
The exact circumstances of the incident have not been revealed, but it is understood the boys are members of a youth football team from Ashford.
Seven of the boys have been released, said the Foreign Office.
The four boys remaining in custody in the Calais region are likely to be freed later, said a French source.
A Foreign Office official said it was offering consular assistance to the group, who are aged between 13 to 18.
